Born and raised in Charlestown he started his working life at BHP as a metallurgist before the shutdown led him to revaluate his future. Medicine had always been a passion and he went back to study at the University of Newcastle graduating it 2007.
Completing junior medical training throughout the Hunter Area Health Service he went on to complete his General Practice training in 2011.
Ben worked initially in General Practice and as an Assistant Surgeon before transitioning across into Skin Cancer medicine. He has been full time in the field since 2017 and continues to assist in neurosurgery one day a week.
Dr Ben Nicholas is a Fellow of the RACGP (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners), and a member of the SCCA (Skin Cancer College Australasia). He holds certificates in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery and has completed a Master of Medicine, in Skin Cancer Medicine through the University of Queensland.
