Broken capillaries don’t cause any health problems but they can be a source of embarrassment, particularly when they form on a noticeable area of your body. Pregnancy, weight gain, sun exposure and age can all lead to prominent veins and there is no concrete way to prevent broken vessels from ever forming. At 4D Skin Clinic, we are experts in helping residents of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Hunter Regions achieve and maintain healthy and luminous skin.
Clear V™ Vascular Laser is the preferred choice for vascular treatments since it effectively and safely treats visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins and vascular lesions. Clear V™ has strong absorption in oxyhemoglobin providing selective heating of veins to eliminate them and make unwanted vessels less noticeable.
What to expect during treatment?
Vascular Laser treatments are gentle, safe and completely non-invasive.
Your skin will be cleansed, we will put protective eyewear on you and the skin will be prepped with a clear gel.
The hand piece of the Vascular Laser will be placed on your skin, the nurse will explain that you will feel a hot pin prick sensation. The nurse will then commence the Vascular Laser treatment on the desired treatment area where the “hot pin pricks” will continue until the treatment is finished. Slight discomfort during the treatment is normal however no anaesthetic is required.
When the treatment is finished, your skin may feel warm to hot. You may experience some slight swelling and treated vessels can look the same, darker or be eliminated, all of which is normal post treatment. The nurse will apply some SPF moisturiser and offer you and ice pack for comfort after the treatment.
How long will the procedure take?
This entire process should not take longer than 30 – 60 minutes depending on the treatment areas selected.
What to expect after treatment?
After you leave the clinic you skin may feel warm for a few hours, you are able to apply ice packs as needed.
It is very important to minimise sun exposure and wear SPF daily. You can apply makeup.
If you have had any vessels darken, over the course of 1 – 3 weeks, the vessel that has darkened will heal and lighten. It is important to be gentle with your skin in this time when cleansing and moisturise regularly. Do not pick or buff the treated skin.
Generally, the post treatment redness and swelling will lessen within a few hours once the heat dissipates.
We recommend avoiding heat inducing activities in the week post treatment like hot showers, baths, saunas and exercise as these activities can re-open the treated vessels.
Do I need to do anything pre-treatment?
If you are on a prescribed blood thinning/ anticoagulant medication, please do not cease it.
If you are taking fish oil, anti-inflammatories or any medications that thin the blood that can be ceased without putting you at risk, it is recommended stopping this type of medication/supplement the week before and after treatment.
Medications that thin the blood can make vessels harder to permanently close and can contribute to bruising.
Do I need a follow up?
We always recommend a follow up to check in on your progress and to take some results photographs to show you. Because vessels can need more regular treatment and maintenance to keep them controlled, clients often like to have another Vascular Laser treatment at their follow up appointment if it is required.
What areas can be treated?
The vessels on the face, neck, chest and trunk respond very well to this laser, as do some superficial small vessels on the lower limbs.
What is the best time to have Vascular Laser?
You can have Vascular Laser any time of year provided you have limited sun exposure and tanning lotions 1 month prior.
How many treatments will give me an optimal result?
We recommend a course of 1 – 6 treatments with a 4 – 6 week gap between each treatment.
Is there any maintenance required?
We recommend maintenance if/when you start to see vessels on the surface of your skin.
Do I need to limit sun exposure before and after treatment?
Prior to your treatment, it’s important to protect your skin from the sun and not use tanning beds. If your skin is sunburned, it can’t be treated. Any tanning lotions should also be eliminated from your beauty regime a month before your appointment. You should also avoid UV exposure for at least one month after treatment.
How much does Vascular Laser cost?
Vascular Laser treatment starts at $100*.
